Policy for switching to ST RK ISO 45001-2019 (ISO 45001:2018)
New standard for safety management, ST RK ISO 45001-2019 (ISO 45001:2018) “Occupational safety and health management system. Requirements” entered into force on July 1, 2019, and replaces ST RK OHSAS 18001-2008 (OHSAS 18001:2007). ST RK ISO 45001 has the same format as all versions of existing management system standards (ST RK ISO 9001, ST RK ISO 14001) and is based on risk management. The rules for switching to the new standard are set by the International accreditation forum (IAF), the policy of the National accreditation body of the Republic of Kazakhstan “NCA” LLP, and all clients have the opportunity to switch to ST RK ISO 45001 before October 1, 2021.
- Clients can apply for audit and certification under the old standard of ST RK OHSAS 18001 until July 1, 2021, after which applications will be accepted only under ST RK ISO 45001.
- Clients who have the certificate of ST RK OHSAS 18001 can transfer to ST RK ISO 45001 by passing an audit as in the case of recertification according to the old standard.
- All clients who currently have the OHSAS 18001 certificate must be audited/certified according to ISO 45001 by October 1, 2021. Otherwise, their certificates will be revoked and a new certificate will be available after a new certification audit.
- The certificate will expire on October 1, 2021 for clients who have passed the re-certification audit under ST RK OHSAS 18001 after April 1, 2019.
- Customers who must pass a recertification audit after July 1, 2019, can choose to check the ST RK OHSAS 18001 standard, but must be checked and certified according to the ST RK ISO 45001 standard no later than October 1, 2021 with the same audit duration as for the recertification audit.
- General requirements for audit results are applied for clients who are audited for certification in accordance with ST RK ISO 45001 (in this case, a significant discrepancy excludes certification).
